Adding to its range of aluminium press-in inserts, SPIROL now offers a range of 2024 aluminium alternatives. Available in symmetrical (series INS 50) and headed (INS 51) versions, the new aluminium press-in inserts complements the existing brass line.

Threaded inserts are essential for reinforcing plastic components, and providing a reusable thread within a bolted assembly. This ensures a proper seating torque and prevents the potential for plastic creep over time that could otherwise compromise the performance of the assembly. 

SPIROL’s inserts are designed to optimise both performance and cost. They are available in a variety of options tailored for different performance requirements and installation methods. Inserts designed to be pressed in without heat, such as SPIROL’s INS 50 and INS 51, are intended to provide the lowest cost to install with acceptable joint performance for many applications. 

While brass remains the industry standard for machining due to its material properties, 2024 aluminium offers distinct weight saving advantages. This 2024 aluminium grade is lead-free, addressing evolving environmental health and safety concerns associated with lead content in machined products. Additionally, the distinct galvanic properties between aluminium and brass provide a broader spectrum of options, catering to diverse application needs.
