Manufactured from plastic and designed to provide secure fastening in high vibration environments, Gecko has introduced a new anti-vibration design to its snap rivets, promising strong performance from the self-locking mechanism.
Based on feedback from customers, the original anti-vibration rivet was an innovation developed by Gecko’s R&D team. This new plastic alternative was born from the struggle to replace metal rivets in high vibration applications and still ensure a secure fastening. “No wonder snap rivets have been criticised for so many years in applications that need robust fixing in high vibration environments. We must bring about the next generation of snap rivets for more rigorous applications,” states Gecko International Co.
Gecko’s new shockproof snap rivets feature a unique self-locking mechanism which helps the component maintain secure fastening even when under high-levels of vibration. Another advantage of these plastic snap rivets is their lightweight nature, a feature which is particularly sought after in the automotive and aerospace industries, among others.
Plastic rivets are also immune to corrosion, unlike metal fasteners, which can rust and degrade over time when exposed to moisture, chemicals, or harsh environments. This makes them ideal for marine, chemical, or outdoor use where exposure to harsh environments is inevitable. Additionally, plastic rivets are often more cost-effective to produce than metal fasteners, especially for high volume applications, which lowers overall manufacturing costs.
With an annual production of over 100 million snap rivets, Gecko is continuously seeking to improve its portfolio by eliminating defective design and offering high-quality products.
