In fastener manufacturing, efficiency, precision and reliability are paramount. National Machinery’s Lean Header & Threader meets these demands by combining heading and threading into a single, streamlined process for high volume fastener production, as well as specialised applications.

National’s Lean Header & Threader is a double stroke, single die header offering cost-effective quality for high accuracy production of small diameter screws for automotive, electronics and consumer goods applications. The machine has a small footprint thanks to the combined heading and threading operations, yielding total savings in floor space, workflow and energy consumption.  

At the heart of this machine is National’s proven FORMAX^® precision linear feed system that requires no extra parts when a wire range is changed. Consistent feed accuracy also reduces the opportunity for wire damage and prolongs tooling life. Furthermore, adjustable punch holders improve die-to-punch alignment, while an efficient knockout system ensures clean part removal, enabling manufacturers to sample blanks in ‘real time’.

On the threading side, the Lean Header & Threader incorporates an integrated threader with a roll feeder and separator for proper part orientation and smooth, jam-free operation. In addition, the machine design is enclosed for noise reduction and workplace safety with an exhaust ventilation system, keeping the production environment cleaner. 

Other features include touchscreen controls, energy management functions, and easy maintenance access, which are some of the key requirements to balance efficiency and cost.
