High-speed packing from Weighpack 21 September 2016

Weighpack International (WPI Services B.V), a specialist in fastener inspection and packaging equipment, is currently finishing two high-speed multi-head packing lines for the Dutch nail manufacturer De WIT B.V.

Recognised for its famous brand name Don Quichotte, De WIT contacted Weighpack as it wanted to renew its packaging department and increase its capacity. The result was the commissioning of three high-speed packing lines, with the first machine delivered earlier this year.
Although De WIT is famous for its hardened nails, the machines are designed for the packaging of a large variety of fasteners such as nails, screws, clamps, raw plugs and hammer plugs.
The packing line configuration incorporates a lift & tip unit to empty the internal bin at higher level, 14 head multi-head weigher, automatic box forming for autolock boxes, magnetic orientator to align (carbon steel) fasteners in boxes, check weigher, camera box filling height detection, box closer, three label applicators for different private label applications, and bundle shrink wrapper for multi-pack formation in poly film.
The Weighpack high-speed packing lines are supplied with a Central Control Unit via PC using Overall Management System (OMS) software that enables the customer to obtain all relevant article and production data. This also ensures the shortest possible changeover times – for instance using the OMS system, in combination with a servomotor, to adjust side guides for 27 different box sizes.
The boxes can also be labelled on several positions, following customers’ wishes, with up to date barcoded content on the label to obtain a high standard of quality.
The packing lines have a capacity of 1kg – 30kg boxes per minute, meaning customers can pack up to 14 tonnes/shift in small boxes.
