Everything for the cold heading industry 16 March 2020

GWI GmbH was found in 1995 and from the very beginning the idea was to deliver almost everything that is needed in the cold heading industry. As a result, GWI has a wide range of products.

Tooling
GWI tools are manufactured according to drawing or sample and can be made of steel and/or carbide, as well as non-ferrous materials and plastic. They include pins, punches, dies knives and grippers.

Wire
GWI’s wire storage capacity has increased continuously so that it now holds between 2,000 tonnes – 2,500 tonnes in its Iserlohn warehouse in Germany. GWI is the agent for three different companies – FN Steel, KOS Wire and WintWire – all experts in their own special field.

FN Steel manufactures low alloyed cold heading wire such as C10C, 35B2 or 19MnB4, and has a diameter range from 2mm to 30mm.

KOS Wire is an expert for stainless steel wire (1.4016, 1.4301, 1.4567, 1.4578) with seven global production plants including one in Lovosice, Czech Republic, with a monthly output of 1,200 tonnes. Its special field is stainless steel wire (e.g. 1.4016, 1.4301, 1.4567, 1.4578).

WintWire is a smaller wire drawer located near Sheffield, UK, producing exotic grades, small quantities and profiled wire.

Machinery
On the one hand GWI is a supplier for new and second hand machines; on the other it carries out maintenance and repair. GWI is also the agent for Jern Yao (multi-station heading machines) and Accuvision (sorting machines). The GWI service team based in Iserlohn, Germany, specialises in the refurbishment of cold heading and thread rolling machines.
