During the celebrations of its centenary, and for the third year in a row, Berardi Fasteners has won the Negotiorum Fucina prize, awarded by the Association of Italian buyers and supply chain management.
The 2019 edition was titled ‘Value builders – next generation procurement and supply management’. Berardi won the first prize with Project S-BBK 4.0, a high-tech smart supply system that communicates the quantity of a given material electronically. This allows operators to constantly monitor material stock and makes procurement automatic. When the quantity in a container goes below the point of reorder, the system generates an order that will be shipped regularly on set dates.
For Berardi Fasteners, this is the first major project in the Industry 4.0 era, in which information exchange costs time, money, and influences the company’s perceived value. This new service complements Berardi’s offer of integrated logistics, keeping its service ahead of the competition.
