With ever changing customer requirements, Italian-based Mavita Srl has a core focus on high-quality products, with strict controls during all production processes, to further its position as a key fastener supplier across all industry sectors.
These strict control measures include a dedicated data measurement network, with every operator across all departments – including the pressing, thread rolling and secondary operation departments – following a quality standard of stops every two hours, whilst checking batch samples and inputting them into the dedicated data network. This data is then collected by the quality department.
“Quite simply we have to invest in quality, Italian manufacturing stands for high-quality and at Mavita our strict control measures ensures we meet these requirements. To add to this we have also added a new quality manager in 2024,” proudly states Roberta Piccina, export department and commercial manager at Mavita.
Furthermore, Mavita has two mechanical and two optical sorting machines on its production floor. The mechanical sorting machine enables the company to check for the presence of strange or foreign parts and the optical sorting machine enables Mavita to directly check the product’s properties – such as size, dimensions, thread pitch, etc – which will be increasingly requested as customer requirements grow further with automation and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Roberta explains: “I have been working in the fastener industry for 26 years, so have grown up with the importance of quality. However, recently this is becoming even more important, especially with automotive industry requirements. The industry of the future will be based on the digitalisation of processes together with the further implementation of industrial automation solutions. We strongly believe that automation and AI can be further utilised in the fastener industry – especially in the final product sorting stage and quality requirements.”
Mavita is further able to ensure quality through its PPAP Level 3, ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 automotive quality certifications – but strives to adapt quickly to ever changing requirements. “We are seeing new requirements, new standards and new tests every single day,” underlines Roberta. “A good example of this is customers’ increasing cleanliness requirements, which are becoming the norm. We’ve therefore had
to adapt quickly and implement new processes to meet our customers’ needs.”
As requirements continue to change, Mavita is also focused on expanding its production range, particularly through its customised screw offering – with 70% of its production range now made up of special parts according to customers’ drawings. “We are able to do this because of our technical knowledge and expertise. We can also develop projects for special assembling needs,” comments Roberta.
She continues: “We were born as a supplier to the household appliance industry but we believe that it’s important for manufacturing companies to diversify their production range. We do this by working closely with customers from the early stages of a new project to enable Mavita to fully understand the customers’ needs and immediately develop the best qualitatively and competitively priced product. This, along with our quality assurance, enables us to work in all fields – automotive, electronics, electrical, furniture, mechanical construction, as well as naval, to name just a few.”
“To work with Mavita means to have a trustworthy, flexible supplier that focuses on time, service and quality,” concludes Roberta. “Our company is passionate about quality – further underlined with our motto: ‘Quality can not be improvised’.”
