FDS annual conference in September 18 July 2024

The annual conference of the FDS (Fachverband des Schrauben-Großhandels e.V.) will take place this year from 19th - 21st September 2024 in Stuttgart, Germany, where members will be discussing key topics, as well as taking the opportunity to network.

With a membership currently standing at 47 wholesale companies, FDS continues to focus on informing members about important industry topics, especially legal measures that affect international trade, such as anti-dumping duties, sanctions against Russia or the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) regulation. In fact, since the Covid-19 pandemic, FDS has been offering webinars on individual specialist topics – making it much easier to transfer and exchange expertise than in face-to-face webinars.

For instance, FDS members were able to participate in CBAM webinars organised by the FDS and EFDA. This helped them to better master the challenges of CBAM, with the experts from some FDS member companies also active in EFDA’s CBAM Working Group – helping to ensure that the industry is as well positioned as possible in terms of CBAM throughout Europe.

This has enabled EFDA to create templates and guidelines regarding CBAM that benefit all members, as the information is from the industry for the industry, naturally also with the input of external specialists, which is why members place a great deal of trust in these services.

“Regulation of the supply chain has increased dramatically. Informing our members at an early stage, like a radar, about upcoming changes to the legal framework, and offering them implementation support, will be part of our core business in the coming years,” explains Volker Lederer, FDS president. “This will enable companies to prepare and position themselves on the market at an early stage. Membership of the FDS pays off for companies in the truest sense of the word.”

Volker continues: “We are excited for our conference in September, as the need to meet in person remains strong, even in times of online formats. That is why we have created a good networking event for the younger generation, with the newly organised FDS junior group, which is now called YOUNG FDS. Here, the next generation of owner families of member companies can exchange ideas and be supported in getting to know the industry and the market better. The group will meet for the first time in September.”
