Ensuring a stable supply chain 05 June 2025

With a focus on ensuring compliance across its entire supply chain, German-based Achilles Seibert GmbH (Achill) is determined to provide reliable Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) regulation data to its customers – dedicating more personnel resources and close cooperation with its long-term suppliers in preparation for CBAM readiness.

Timo Scholle, managing director at Achill, explains: “We are actively collaborating with our suppliers to ensure CBAM compliance. We’ve communicated the new requirements early and many of our suppliers already have internal procedures, such as emissions reporting, which are then sent to us and verified to make sure everyone is compliant.”

He continues: “We are making good progress and have been actively working on aligning our processes with CBAM requirements, implementing key measures.” This includes more personnel resources dedicated to managing CBAM, helping Achill to ensure a smooth implementation when the 2026 deadline comes into full effect. For Achill customers, this means high-quality products backed up by personalised customer service, as well as strengthening its reliable logistics.

“By focusing internal capacity on this topic, we’ve been able to build up the necessary expertise, ensure compliance and strengthen cooperation with our suppliers,” states Timo. “For our customers, this means that sustainability is integrated into our supply chain – from sourcing to delivery.”

With the market being driven towards focusing on low carbon production methods, it is evident that CBAM will have a noticeable impact on the market. The cost of carbon has the potential to become a more significant factor in sourcing decisions, but Achill is determined to maintain a stable and secure supply chain for its customers.

“At this stage, CBAM has not yet changed where we source our products and we will continue to work with our established suppliers, ensuring compliance with requirements while maintaining the high standards that our customers expect from us,” comments Timo.

“At Achill, we believe that sustainability will continue to be a key focus in the immediate future and beyond,” concludes Timo. “The importance of environmental responsibility is growing across all industries and we expect further regulations related to sustainability and environmental protection to be introduced. As for CBAM, we think it will be expanded over time, potentially covering additional sectors and products.”
