Dell’Era Ermanno has invested in a new warehouse to make sure it is able to stay flexible when it comes to customers’ requirements for cold forming standard and special metric screws.
In the post-pandemic period, the market was characterised by strong instability, scarcity of raw materials and rising prices. To handle this situation and ensure it was still flexible enough to meet customers’ needs, Dell’Era Ermanno e Figlio Srl decided to store large stocks of raw materials. It was therefore necessary to invest in a new warehouse to increase the space for the raw materials, as well as for additional finished product.
“The Covid-19 pandemic hit Italy hard. However, it reminded us how important it was to have domestic production and enhanced ‘Made in Italy’ products,” states Owner Paolo Dell’Era. “Producing in Italy means making a product with the most advanced technologies, with highly qualified personnel in a territory made up of highly specialised districts. At Dell’Era Ermanno we work with a select clientele of specialised distributors, both in Italy and abroad. The speed of product realisation, combined with great quality and impeccable service, are the advantages that we offer customers. To ensure we could still deliver this service it was necessary to enlarge our raw material stocks and this in turn required a new warehouse.”
Developing to meet the needs of its customers is part of Dell’Era Ermanno’s strategy, as it constantly looks at growth both in terms of internal development and efficiency. This is underlined by the company’s commitment to the digitisation of its operations, which it has been working on since 2017. “We have been able to simplify and save money by using technology with different solutions,” points out Paolo. “For instance, modern effort control tools have been applied to all production machines, as well as related statistical analysis software. Sorting machines with modern optical thermal cameras have also been implemented to increase the zero reject guarantee. New software has also been introduced in the quality department.”
To add to this, activities and procedures have been streamlined to increase production efficiency, whilst the company has also been attentive to the environment and socio-economic activities. “Sustainability has always been at the heart of Dell’Era Ermanno’s investments. In 2010 we had our first solar panel system installed and subsequently in 2016 a second system went into production,” concludes Paolo. “Corporate social sustainability is also at the heart of the business. Numerous interventions have been carried out to ensure safety in the workplace both in regards to infrastructures and the involvement of workers.”
