wire® demonstrates its strength 05 April 2016

A plethora of fastener manufacturing technology was on display at the 15th edition of wire® – the international wire and cable fair – when the show opened its doors on Monday 4th April.

Held at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre, Germany, more than 156 exhibitors showcased their capabilities in Hall 15 with some truly spectacular stands catching the interest of visitors.

This included National Machinery LLC, with the stand featuring its iconic dome shell-like structure. The company focused on its two new partnerships with SMART Machinery Srl and Nakashimada Engineering Works Ltd. These partnerships were represented on the stand with live demonstrations of a SMART Machinery NG 200 HE induction flat die thread roller and a Nakashimada NP100 2 die 3 blow parts former. Other equipment featured included a Mectron Q5000 Qualifier, an RCD 9500 ‘rotary crack detection’ unit, as well as a live FORMAX® XXV robotic tool changer.

SACMA Group’s SP470-CRM

Ingramatic’s RP420-WF30

Another company that made a big impact at the show was SACMA Group with its stylish stand that enticed visitors through a central pathway to find the exciting projects the Group is able to supply. Machines on display included SACMA’s net shape parts former model SP470-CRM and Ingramatic’s warm forming line the RP420-WF30.

Other stands that stood out included Nedschroef Herentals N.V and its machinery demonstrations, which attracted those visitors entering through hall 16, Carlo Salvi SpA, which was recently acquired by Hatebur Umformtechnik AG, as well as Weighpack International (WPI Services B.V) - which displayed its complete range of packaging equipment for the fastener and cold forming industry.

Technologies that were on display at the fair included cold and hot forging machinery for all types of fasteners and complex parts, thread rolling and secondary operations, tooling, materials handling and transfer, inspection and packaging equipment, as well as process monitoring systems and simulation software.

Whilst the first morning was relatively quiet with visitors slow to make their way through the 59,000m2 of exhibition space to Hall 15, the afternoon proved busier with exhibitors expecting the middle days of the week long show to be the most productive. With the number and variety of production machinery on display it is clear that the wire® show is still an important exhibition within the fastener market and a great opportunity for visitors to see a wide selection of equipment first-hand.

A full report on the full five-day show will be published in the May issue of Fastener + Fixing Magazine.
