With building façade thermal insulation becoming increasingly relevant as gas and heating costs rise, the ResiTHERM® 16 distance mounting system for ETICS insulated façades from CELO Befestigungssysteme GmbH has experienced high demand since its launch in April this year, with the company deciding to add a further ResiTHERM® 12 system to its portfolio.
ResiTHERM® 16 displays a number of high performance characteristics; it enables effective thermal decoupling due to its thermal separation module so that the heavy loads, such as canopies, awnings, French balconies, air conditioning units or satellite dishes can be mounted on the external insulation without thermal bridges occurring. The system can also be fitted to a wide range of façade materials, from concrete, solid and perforated bricks, to aerated concrete or sand-lime bricks, all while maintaining its energy efficiency. It can also bridge insulation thicknesses of up to 300mm on concrete, or 250mm on perforated brick masonry, with its high-quality, black, glass-fibre-reinforced polyamide separating module providing the necessary stability.
ResiTHERM® 16 also displays high resistance and a tight seal against driving rain, based on the European DIN EN 1027 standard for water tightness. This feature is also relevant beyond driving rain scenarios; its pre-mounted sealing ring, made of high-quality, weather resistant EPDM, also ensures a tested seal will resist winds of up to Storm Force 11 when the product is used with typical plaster of a grain size distribution up to 3mm. Force 11 corresponds to hurricane force winds with average wind speeds between 103km/h – 117km/h at a height of 10m above open ground. Even under these conditions, no water penetration was detected during tests on ResiTHERM® 16’s attachment points.
The system also seals itself automatically; the anchor rod with the glass-fibre-reinforced thermal separation module, cuts through the plaster into the insulation material and seals the drill hole cleanly through the EPDM and, combined with the chemical mortar, a perfect setting process is ensured making subsequent sealing no longer necessary. This saves valuable installation time and helps make the installation of ResiTHERM® 16 a relatively simple process.
Adding further to Celo’s distance mounting system range is the ResiTHERM® 12, which differs from ResiTHERM® 16, as it uses a smaller diameter M12 threaded rod located in the insulation and wall, as opposed to the larger M16 threaded rod of the ResiTHERM® 16 system. The resulting smaller drill hole diameter in solid building materials helps reduce installation time. Both products have ETA certification (ETA 22 – 0229) and while ResiTHERM® 16 is available now, ResiTHERM® 12 will be available soon.
