Star Fasteners has teamed up with VVG Befestigungstechnik to design a powerful structural fastener battery operated tool – the Rivdom TWO SF® – which it says is the perfect tool for installing a wide range of Huck® fasteners.
Star Fasteners (UK) Ltd is committed to continuously improving and expanding its product portfolio to ensure that it remains at the forefront of the industry and ahead of modern assembly requirements. “We are the UK’s largest Huck® fastener distributor and therefore are used to working with trusted manufacturers of quality brands,” explains Daniel Starbuck, director at Star Fasteners. “That is why we decided to work with VVG on the design of the Rivdom TWO SF battery tool – so that it would meet the needs of a demanding manufacturing assembly process.”
The Rivdom TWO SF features a lightweight, ergonomic design that ensures uncompromised user experience. A newly developed brushless BLDC direct current motor guarantees improved tool life and an almost wear-less, durable life cycle. The tool has also been designed with sound emissions in mind, meaning it can be used in noise restricted areas.
The new battery tool comes with two new 4.0Ah lithium-ion batteries that are fully charged in 60 minutes. The batteries feature an indicator panel to show their remaining charge capacity. All 12V, 16V and 20V batteries of the Rivdom family can be charged using the same charger. The battery powered Rivdom Two SF is also supplied with an electronic quick charger and a heavy-duty Sortimo L-Box case.
“A key part of the design for the new tool was the ability for it to take Huck nose assemblies,” mentions Daniel. “This highly powered structural fastener battery tool has been on trial in demanding manufacturing environments for just over a year now. With an enormous setting force of more than 20,000N it has comfortably tackled installing structural rivets such as Magna-Lok® and quarter inch diameter pins and collars including Hucktainer® lockbolts. Our customers have been really pleased with the tool’s overall performance.”
Dan continues: “The Rivdom Two SF is a high-quality modern riveting tool capable of enduring tough environments and has underlined its capabilities in a variety of demanding engineering applications. It’s proving to be a popular choice with service teams and assembly lines and is an invaluable tool for working in areas where there isn’t any power to the site. It also allows ease of movement as it can be manipulated into confined spaces and there is no airline to get tangled.” “Historically pneumatic tools were always chosen due to their strength properties. However, technological development and innovation in both batteries and motors have really closed the gap in recent years. Businesses are now looking at the health and safety benefits of swapping predominantly to battery tools. This include noise reduction and trip hazards on trailing airlines. The Rivdom TWO SF has become an equal rival to some of our most popular pneumatic tools.”
Star Fasteners is the exclusive UK and Ireland distributor for the Rivdom TWO SF and has also become a distributor for VVG’s entire Rivdom tooling range. “We have invested in both the design process and a fully stocked tool room so that we can offer a quick and cost-effective service and repair facility,” concludes Daniel. “We have put several Rivdom TWO SF tools onto our hire fleet and are happy for the tools to go out on demonstrations.”
