Hammer dowel holes effortlessly and safely 20 October 2017

The Wiha dowel racket with galvanically separate striking cap is a simple, clean alternative to using power drills for soft construction materials – with no need to worry about electrocution.

Wiha had been consistently asked in user surveys: “Isn’t there an easier way of embedding dowels in softer construction materials such as hollow block masonry, plasterboard, or porous concrete, than the hassle of using a drill and an extension lead and causing noise and almost unavoidable dirt?”. Wiha Werkzeuge GmbH therefore delivered a hand tool for a trouser pocket as an alternative to conventional power drills for inserting dowels into softer construction materials.

Unique in shape and adaptability for professional applications, the dowel racket makes it safe to insert dowels without a drill. A simple strike of a hammer on this new hand screwdriver tool avoids the use of heavier, noise and dust intensive, power tools. The racket also protects users from electric shocks thanks to the galvanic separation in the solid steel cap – guarding against electrocution risk if the operator should hit hidden wires or cable lines beneath the plaster.

The scaled 6mm round screwdriver blade also enables depth to be precisely measured. The dowel hole itself is perfectly dimensioned as a result.

This new product is available in a set consisting of the dowel racket (6mm round blade, PH2 profile) and four fischer dowels.
