Route to Fastener Innovation award winners announced 29 March 2023

A key factor of the recent Fastener Fair Global show was the new innovative products introduced at the show, including those involved in the Route to Fastener Innovation Competition – with the three winners being announced during the second day.

Fastener + Fixing Magazine once again sponsored the competition in which a plethora of innovative products were presented by twenty-two applicants. After careful consideration of all the innovations, the first place award was ultimately given to Scell-It Group, with its patented E-007 power tool designed to install hollow wall anchors. The company reports that the quick setting powered action of this tool means setting is performed effortlessly and accurately just by squeezing the trigger. This helps save time and effort in comparison to more conventional methods.

The E-007 sets anchors with a screw and can install a range from M4 to M8. Also, a setting adjustment dial on the back of the tool allows for the perfect setting of stroke adjustment from 4mm – 40mm. Therefore, a wider range of diameter and lengths of anchor can be accommodated.

Second place was awarded to Growermetal SpA, for its Grower SperaTech®. Developed by the company’s R&D department, SperaTech® is based on the combination of a spherical top washer and a conical seat washer. This inseparable set ensures a safe locking function on non-parallel surfaces and therefore avoids damages or breakages of the bolted joint connection caused by bending of the head or the shank of the screw.

Ingramatic, part of the SACMA Group, was award third place for its RP620-R1-RR12 combined thread and profile rolling machine. The ‘all in one’ machine features a R1 washer assembly unit, which has been updated with the integration of servomotors and a new design to manage better changeover time as well as the quality of assembly. The RR12 rotary profiling/threading station, which is equipped with a GR3 size roller and sector to run special shapes or threads. The machine also features the RP620 standard flat dies station for rolling special parts after heat treatment from M6 – M16.

All the entrants in this year’s Route to Fastener Innovation will be featured in the May issue of Fastener + Fixing Magazine, alongside a detailed report of the Fastener Fair Global show.
